In The Beginning

Day I

God created the heavens and the earth
And it was his turf.

Soaring over mystery
God created history.

This poem jumps from here to there
Like a bouncing little hare.

Or like God says, "Let there be light."
And then, boing: it was bright.

Just like that
Without a zap.

Don't ask me why
you'll make me cry.

[...Selah: be quiet.
I don't have a diet.

Like in a song
When they play the gong

When there's no singing
Only reverberating...]

He parted the light from the dark.
Did you hear of Noah's ark?

What he called "day" was light
And what was dark was "night."

Day III

First the land was none
And then God begun.

The earth came up like that;
God was wearing a hat.

The water stayed in place
But still it had an ace.

The plants suck up the water
So they must have a father.

The plants produce seeds
And that's what it needs.

Day IV

Light doesn't come from the sun;
It was already there on Day I.

The sun came along on the fourth;
All day it keeps its course.

The moon gets bigger and bigger
And then wanes away to a sliver.

The sun comes close in the summer
But goes far, far away in the winter.

If they all come together they vanish
But seasons in time they establish.

Day V

God made the fish and birds
With twenty little words.

Let the birds in the air increase
Like the giant fish in the seas.

Day VI

Animals came out of the earth
Because she was giving birth.

Some were wild and some were tame,
Some lived in Africa, some lived in Spain.

God made bobcats, bobcats & fish, fish;
Every time he got his wish.

God said "we"
When I'd have said "me."

"Let's make something in our image
Between us & them there'll be no scrimmage."

God made males and females
To mate just like the free whales.

We are supposed to understand
Everything in the sea, air and land.

God gave plants for us to eat
A nose and ears and eyes and feet.

God saw that everything was very good
Seeing things the way we should.

Day VII

As the sun was setting on the sixth day
God was merry and gay.

Why? Because he was done.
Now it was time for fun.

He stopped every thing he was doing
And then he gave a blessing.

What was the blessing?
The blessing was for resting.

On Friday we went back to the shop & bought some more wood & cut it with a handsaw.

After that we sanded wood  with a power-sander at Faith.
Auden & Harold sitting down

I could not use the electric saw so Ej, & my dad cut the wood.

My dad, Bernadette, Auden & PongPong made a miter box & PongPong & I cut 2 2x6's.

We are having a hard time finding the right screws. On Saturday my dad & I went to another shop on the motorcycle, but they don't really have the right thing either. We will have to keep looking.

Tomorrow we will start assembly.

Today I went to a workshop to cut some wood. The workshop is at Faith Acadame.

You might think, "How did you do it all alone?"

Well, I didn't exactly do it all alone. My helpers are my dad, my friend EJ and the shop teacher at Faith, Harold.

First my dad & EJ & I went to the hardware store. Here we are with the materials loaded in the mission FX.

Then Harold helped us cut it with a table saw. Auden helped us too.

Tomorrow we will go back there again to do more cutting & sanding.

The first stage of my project is writing letters.

To whom, you ask?

Well. Well!

It is too long to tell you, I am sorry. But I wrote to family & friends.

I have mailed letters. I have emailed. I have given letters to people who live here in Manila. And I have telephoned people.

This is me delivering letters to the Taytay post office on my bike.

We got really good responses & you might be one of them. Already I have more than enough for the whole project. We start building tomorrow. Any extra money that comes in will go to other projects to help people. And I will update you on this blog.
